The Groene Loper Run is back! A fast track on the Groene Loper in Maastricht with the finish in the MVV stadium. We go back to basic and back to the original distances of 5 and 10 km. The 5km runs all over the Groene Loper and the 10km consists of two rounds of 5km. There is also a kids run and it is possible for companies to register for the business run.

The Groene Loper is the area in East Maastricht on top of the King Willem-Alexander tunnel. On top of the tunnel, space has been created for greenery, relaxation and sportsmanship.

Unlike what you are used to from Bearsports, this is a fast, flat, paved course. The aim is to actually turn it into a green, sustainable running event. The Groene Loper will become one of the healthiest urban areas in the Netherlands. The impact of this sustainable area development was awarded the European Sustainable Residential Development Award in 2020. We as an organization cannot stay behind, so we aim to make the Groene Loper Run really green. We will realize this ambition in the coming months and years. How? Stay tuned…. or no better, sign up!

UNICEF is affiliated as a charity with the Groene Loper Run. The entry fee for the kids run and the proceeds from not ordering a medal go entirely to Unicef.

Business Run

At the Business Run you can choose between the 5 and 10 km run. You can already register for the Business Run from 3 people. So both large and small companies and institutions can participate. For the 10 km Business Run, a final classification will be made based on the three fastest runners. Every participant in the Business Run is also included in the individual results. The program of the Business Run is the same as for the regular 5 and 10 km run.

Registering as a company can be done through group registration in Passion for Sports (see link below).

Participants in the Business Run are welcomed in the MVV business lounge with coffee and Limburgse vlaai and afterwards a free drink can be enjoyed at the bar together with colleagues and other companies.

The kids’ course runs through the MVV stadium. All kids receive a cool medal. The entry fee for the kids run goes to Unicef.

Framerunners

Frame runners are welcome at the Groene Loper Run. They can choose their own distance and start together with the other runners. The course is flat with one viaduct for the 5 and 10km runners. For the kids distances, the course is completely flat.

The registration fee includes a nice medal. If you do not want a medal, you can indicate this during the registration process and 1 euro will go to Unicef.

The pre-registration opens on Tuesday 1 December at 12:00 and runs until Thursday 13 April or until the participant limit has been reached. If the participant limit has not yet been reached, registration can be made in the last week at an increased rate (+ € 5).

Information

Getting there

  • Bicycle: Your bicycle can be parked on the Stadionplein next to the MVV stadium in Maastricht.
  • Public transport: It is a 15-minute walk from Maastricht station to the MVV stadium.
  • Car: If coming by bicycle or public transport is not an option, try to carpool as much as possible. You can park on Stadionplein next to the MVV stadium and at Sportpark Geusselt, Vijfkamp 1 Maastricht.

Time Limit

We have a time limit of 5 km/h. This means that you get 1 hour for the 5 km.

At the 10km there is a time limit of 2 hours. Participants who take longer than 1 hour to complete the first lap will be sent to the finish.

Wardrobe, changing rooms and showers

There is a guarded wardrobe in the MVV stadium where each participant can hand in one bag, using the bagage label, attached to your bib number. Afterwards the bag can be picked up on presentation of your bib number.

Changing rooms are available in the stadium where you can change and shower.

Aid Stations

For the 10km runners there is an aid station after 5km and at the finish.

There is an aid station at the finish for the 5km runners.

On the course the aid station is equipped with:

Bringing your own collapsible drinking cup is allowed, but not required.

Awards Ceremony

The awards ceremony for 5km and 10km will take place at 12:00h in the MVV stadium. For the kids, the award ceremony is at 13:45h in the MVV stadium.

There are podium prizes for the numbers 1, 2 and 3 at each distance for men and women and a prize for the fastest business team on the 10 km run. There are no stages for separate age categories.
